I had 3 hatched babies out of 5 eggs, this morning, all fine and full...I just checked them at 8:30pm and seen that one of the babies is dead and the smallest is near death, and the largest if full and happy. This parent was successful with a crop of 2 chicks in early January. WHen these chicks left, she showed interest in mating again and laid more eggs so I returned the nest box to her and tossed the now broked eggs out, she then laid 5 more eggs. THe1st egg hatched APril 1, the next APril 3 the next April 8. I hand fed the smallest one at 8:45p, until its crop was full. I will check it again around 2 hours. THis chick is so small, I am sure it is the one born yesterday. I have 2 eggs yet in the box. I will continue to check those when I check the little one at 10:45p.
